Dolphins

Welcome to the Dolphin class!

(Mixed year groups)

All you need to know about Dolphin Class.

Who are the adults?

Teacher: Mrs Day

Teaching Assistants: Miss Self and Miss Taggart

What do we need to bring each day?

You need:

  • A water bottle
  • Your reading book
  • Your reading diary
  • A change of clothes (more if your child is toilet training)
  • nappies/wipes etc if needed.
  • Your coat

Forest area: We regularly use the forest area - we have waterproof trousers and well boots in school, but if you have your own please feel free to send them.

What will we be learning?

The focus in Dolphin class is on communication and interaction needs, social understanding and relationships, emotional understanding and self awareness, and sensory processing needs.

We so one to one sessions in English, maths, reading and phonics which are all tailored to your child's individual needs and stage of development.

We also cover foundation subjects such as science, geography, history, RE and art.  We bake once a week.

What homework will we have?

Please encourage your child to read and read with them as much as possible. Studies show that reading for pleasure makes a big difference to children's educational performance and develops a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures.

  • Our expectation is that children read  at home 5 times per week and this needs to be signed by a parent each time.
  • Please use TTRS and Numbots for access to maths work at home. You can also use top marks maths which is a free website with many maths games on. The usernames and passwords for these are at the front of reading diaries.
Class Dojo

Children are awarded dojo points for positive behaviour, being on task, and showing kindness, as well as many other reasons.  Photographs are also added to the class story on dojo weekly so you can see what your children are up to. Dojo can also be used to contact staff with any issues.
